Fake Ashlar using lime stone repair mortars
Today I was practicing using lime based stone repair products to create fake ashlar blocks, with narrow French drags and a scratching float. Thankyou to Pierre at St Astier for passing on some of his experience to help ensure: The correct strength lime stone repair materials are chosen for different substrates on historic buildings; Accurately coloured with mineral pigments; and Finished twelve hours later with simple masonry tools.
