Thatch Cord on Zege
A skilled thatcher on Zege showing me how he prepares strong cords, thin rope, from the stems of plant leaves that have been soaked for 48 hours. This thin rope is then used to secure the grass thatch to the juniper and split bamboo on the underside of the church roofs.
